The State Legislature has given the County Commission authority to direct the County Surveyor to perform surveys which the county may need that is not specifically covered in the law, [Utah Code 17-13-1 (2) (b)] As part of this section the County Commission has passed specific county ordinances which require the Surveyor's Office to perform certain functions, one of which is that of subdivision checking.
When a subdivision is submitted to the County Planning Department for approval it must be checked by this office for survey data correctness and to insure that the data thereon conforms to subdivision ordinances and county records. Another specific function which this office is required by County Ordinance to perform is that of county addresses. It is the responsibility of this office to assign, correct, and verify addresses within the county (most incorporated areas have their own departments which perform this function).
