On April 16, 1984, Jay Hansen was fatally shot during a struggle with a masked intruder at his Ogden Canyon home, and despite numerous interviews, no suspects have been charged.

On 04/16/1984 just prior to 1:30 am, someone knocked on the front door of residence 230 Ogden Canyon. Jay Hansen answered the door and was met immediately by a masked male intruder. Hansen attempted to stop the male from pushing his way into the residence and a physical altercation started in the doorway. A gunshot was heard by the two witnesses inside the house. Hansen was critically hit by a 9mm bullet. The suspect fled into the darkness and seemed to yell at someone else as he fled. Numerous suspects have been interviewed but no one has been officially charged with this murder.
