14-year-old Gabriel Distefano was last seen going to a party in Riverdale. It was the last time she was seen alive. Her body was found, wrapped in plastic, on Sept. 16, 1982, in a ditch near a construction site in Harrisville. She had been shot once in the head, according to police.
A break came in Gabrielle’s case last year, when detectives were able to link the case to another cold case, 21-year-old Joyce Gallegos, shot four days earlier. Investigators determined the bullets that killed both young women came from the same gun.
