MINUTES
OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF WEBER COUNTY
Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - 10:00 a.m.
Commission Chambers, Weber Center, Ogden, Utah
In accordance with the requirements of Utah Code Annotated Section 52-4-7(1)(d), the County Clerk records in the minutes the names of all citizens who appear and speak at a County Commission meeting and the substance “in brief” of their comments. Such statements may include opinion or purported facts. E. Consent Items:
1. Purchase orders in the amount of $120,793.43
2. Warrants #237992 - #238208 in the amount of $969,754.35
3. Minutes for the meeting held on June 3, 2008
4. Set public hearing for July 1, 2008, 10 a.m., to rezone 4.65 acres from Forest FV-3 to Forest Residential FR-3
5. New business licences
Commissioner Bischoff moved to approve the consent items; Commissioner Dearden seconded, all voting aye.
F. Action Items:
1. Contract with the U.S. Forest Service to patrol forest service areas in the Upper Valley - Contract C2008-149
Weber County Sheriff Brad Slater presented this modification to the current contract. He stated that the reimbursement amount under the existing contract was $52,000.00 but the Forest Service had added $5,011.00 to this contract to handle additional costs. Commissioner Dearden asked about the reimbursement amount and the Sheriff responded that the base amount of about $52,000 had not changed in about 20 years.
Commissioner Dearden moved to approve Contract C2008-149 with the U.S. Forest Service to patrol forest service areas in the Upper Valley; Commissioner Bischoff seconded, all voting aye.
2. Ratification of Weber County Tax Sale held on May 22, 2008
Roger Brunker, Clerk/Auditor’s Office, gave an overview of the tax sale. The process had started with over 150 properties and ended with 18 on tax sale day. Of the 18 one was not bid on, and two of the properties (sold together as a contiguous parcel) were subsequently contested based upon a legal description discrepancy with a neighboring property. He requested ratification with the exception of land serial numbers 12-073-0015 and 12-073-0016 so that this issue could be studied.
Commissioner Bischoff moved to ratify the Weber County tax sale held on May 22, 2008, excluding land serial numbers 12-073-0015 and 12-073-0016; Commissioner Dearden seconded, all voting aye.
3. Contract with Event Services Inc., for the WWE Raw Presents “Summer Slam Tour” to be held June 15, 2008 at Golden Spike Event Center - Contract C2008-150
Jim Harvey, GSEC, presented this new contract and gave an overview of the event. Chair Zogmaister asked if this was anticipated to be a good revenue source because of the increased security, carpeting costs, etc. and Mr. Harvey said that the county’s costs were reimbursed upfront before disbursement to the WWE.
Commissioner Dearden moved to approve Contract C2008-150 with Event Services Inc., for the WWE Raw Presents “Summer Slam Tour” to be held on June 15, 2008 at the Golden Spike Event Center; Commissioner Bischoff seconded, all voting aye.
