Job Description:


Must submit your scores for the Police Office Entrance Examination test with application. Under the supervision of a Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) facility, incumbents in this position are in a training mode for a period required to obtain Utah Peace Officer Certifications to include: Special Functions Officer (SFO): and Basic Corrections Officer (BCO) and/or Law Enforcement Officer (LEO).

Under the supervision of a Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) facility, incumbents in this position are in a training mode for a period required to obtain Utah Peace Officer Certifications to include: Special Functions Officer (SFO): and Basic Corrections Officer (BCO) and/or Law Enforcement Officer (LEO).

Education and Experience:


High school diploma or equivalent and meet minimum requirements for Corrections and/or Law Enforcement Peace Officer Certification as outlined in Utah State Code 53-6-203 and, upon completion of the Academy assignment 53-6-205. Some knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; Some knowledge of typing and data entry procedures; working knowledge of spelling and grammar rules. Skill in operating a typewriter and computer terminal. Ability to successfully complete the National Police Officer entrance Examination; Ability to successfully meet P.O.S.T. physical fitness requirements.

Special Requirements:


(a) All applicants must pass the Peace Officer Entrance Examination before they will be admitted to the Academy. Exam results must be attached to the application to be considered for this position. The cost of this examination will be borne by the applicant. (b) Must qualify for Law enforcement Officer (LEO) and/or Basic Corrections Officer (BCO) Certification at the completion of the required training; (b) Must be a minimum of 21 years at the completion of the ten weeks of training; (c) Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any State; (d) Must be found suitable for employment as a result of a background investigation completed by the Weber County Sheriff’s Office; (e) U.S. citizen; (f) Must be able to read and write the English language; (g) Must pass a drug screening as required by Weber County
